Luminance Consulting

About Luminance Consulting

A consultancy in professional lighting solutions, since 2013.

Luminance Consulting was founded in 2013 by two engineers from electronics and electrical engineering. We support manufacturers, logistics companies, local authorities and private project owners along the whole chain: audit of the existing system, photometric study in DIALux, choice of luminaires, financing, installation by our own team or by the installer of your choice, and a check of the lighting levels after installation. We work all over France, with an on-site visit for the survey.

Finding the ideal solution is not our job. It is our passion.

Luminance Consulting was founded in 2013. Since then, our work has been to answer a question that is simple to ask and hard to solve: what lighting does this place really need, and how can it be financed. Answering it means measuring before proposing, calculating before buying, and coming back to check after installation.

Our job comes down to five steps, in this order. Identify the savings potential of a site, by measuring what it really consumes rather than applying ratios. Propose the most innovative solutions, including when they fall outside the usual catalogues, because difficult environments cannot be handled with ordinary equipment. Build the right financing, so that a technically sound project can also be funded. Have it installed, by our own team or by the installer of your choice, whichever serves the site best. Then define and follow the project up to the check of the levels achieved.

The photometric study is not the product of this chain: it is its first piece, the one the other four rest on. That is why it is free. We are paid on the solution we supply and have installed, and that is exactly what stops us from counting one luminaire too many: an installation that disappoints costs far more than a lost sale.

What we do not do

  • We do not do heating, fluids or structural work. Only lighting.
  • We do not produce scenography or architectural lighting design for works of art.
  • We do not hand over a recommendation without having measured or modelled. An estimate by eye commits no one.
  • We do not make the delivery of the study report conditional on an order.
The five steps of a Luminance Consulting assignment, from the survey to the post-installation check
Our job in five steps, in this order.

Neither a supplier nor a design office: both, in the right order

Most players in professional lighting fit into one of two boxes: those who sell equipment and those who produce calculations. The first size installations to sell, the second do not commit to the installed result. We built Luminance on the idea that these two jobs are only worth something together, provided they follow each other in the right order. Here is what that changes in practice.

  • 01

A single contact who knows your file

The person who takes your call is the one who surveys the site, builds the simulation and will defend the calculation assumptions in front of your project manager. Nothing gets lost between a salesperson, a technical office and an installer.

  • 02

Responsiveness that comes from having no intermediaries

A request does not have to go through three levels of approval before it is qualified. We call you back ourselves within 48 working hours, ask the useful technical questions directly, and schedule the visit right away.

  • 03

The calculation decides, never the catalogue

We supply equipment, and we say so. But the recommendation is first written as performance targets: maintained illuminance, uniformity, glare, colour rendering, protection ratings. The equipment comes next, and it has to meet those values. If the calculation points to a solution we do not distribute, we tell you. The report is yours and you can have it priced by anyone you like.

  • 04

Expertise focused on a single subject

We do not do heating, fluids or structural work. We do lighting, and especially the difficult cases: great heights, explosive atmospheres, extreme temperatures, corrosion, high-pressure washing, sites in continuous operation. That is where an ordinary range does not hold up and a standard calculation gets it wrong.

Three commitments to transparency

A serious buyer checks suppliers before consulting them. We would rather give you ourselves the information you would go looking for.

  • 01

We state our real founding date

The company was founded in 2013. We do not count each person's years of experience before that date to show a more flattering figure. The company's legal data is public and can be checked.

  • 02

We say how we are paid

The audit and the study are free because we are paid on the solution we supply and have installed. It is neither a favour nor a trap, it is a business model, and you are entitled to know it before consulting us. What we owe you in return is a study that can be checked line by line and a check of the levels after installation.

  • 03

We separate what is calculated from what is estimated

A study report contains simulation results and assumptions. Our deliverables state the two separately: maintenance factor used, reflection coefficients of the walls, annual hours of use considered. You can then challenge an assumption without calling the whole calculation into question, and compare our work fairly with that of a competitor.

Six assignments, one single job

DIALux photometric study

Simulation of illuminance levels, uniformity and glare based on the real photometric files of the luminaires under consideration. A deliverable that can be used to put contractors out to tender.

    Lighting audit

Survey of the existing installation, on-site measurements, analysis of the gaps with actual use and the applicable standard, and prioritisation of the work to be done.

      Compliance with standards

Check against the texts that apply to your activity: lighting of indoor and outdoor workplaces, sports lighting, emergency lighting, public lighting, limitation of light pollution.

        Project management assistance

Drafting of the technical tender documents, comparative analysis of the bids received, attendance at technical meetings, performance check at handover.

          Financing and CEE

Building the financing at the same time as the technical solution: long-term leasing over three to five years, check of remaining eligibility for energy savings certificates, and payback time calculated zone by zone.

            Financing

Long-term leasing, remaining eligibility for energy savings certificates, payback time calculated zone by zone: how a lighting project is financed in 2026.

The energy savings certificate landscape has changed: the order of 23 February 2026 removed the BAR-EQ-110, BAT-EQ-127 and IND-BA-116 schemes, which covered indoor relamping. Outdoor lighting renovation remains eligible under scheme RES-EC-104. We check what can really be claimed on your project rather than announce a grant that no longer exists.

Four steps, with nothing left in the dark

              1. 1

                Scoping the need

We start from the real use of the place, not from its name on a plan. A visual inspection workshop and a storage workshop sometimes carry the same name in the file and do not call for the same treatment. At this stage we identify the applicable standard and the constraints of the site.

              2. 2

                On-site survey and measurements

Geometry of the space, working heights, obstacles, condition and reflection coefficients of the walls, existing layout, illuminance measurements at the key points. This survey determines the reliability of everything that follows: it is the part we never delegate.

              3. 3

                Simulation and trade-offs

Modelling in DIALux evo from the manufacturers' photometric data. We test several layouts and present the trade-offs to you: a gain in the number of light points is often paid for in uniformity or visual comfort, and that choice is yours.

              4. 4

                Report, installation and check

Delivery of a report with the layout plans, the calculation results, the assumptions used and the recommendations expressed as performance targets, together with the financing. If you entrust us with the work, we have it installed, by our own team or by the installer of your choice, and we come back to measure the levels achieved.

              What a study report contains

              • The dimensioned layout plans of the light points.
              • The calculation results: average illuminance, uniformity, glare control, colour rendering.
              • The calculation assumptions, listed and justified.
              • The equipment specification, expressed as characteristics and not as commercial references.
              • The points of attention identified for installation and maintenance.

Who we work with, and why

We are not a catalogue, but we stand behind the equipment we recommend. That means knowing a small number of ranges very precisely rather than the whole market superficially. Here is who we work with, and why.

              • Rexylum · our brand of professional LED luminaires. Industrial, commercial, sports and outdoor ranges, selected on twenty technical criteria before joining the catalogue.
              • Filamento Lighting · American partner from Silicon Valley, for sources with very high colour rendering and a controlled spectrum.
              • Tridonic · components, drivers and control systems, for the electronics and control of the installations.
              • Extreme Industry range · equipment designed for environments that an ordinary luminaire cannot withstand: from minus 60 to plus 120 degrees, explosive atmospheres, corrosive atmospheres, high-pressure washing, environments exposed to radiation.
              • Installers · our own team of installers, or the installer you recommend: large national installers for multi-site operations, qualified local electricians for nearby sites.
              • End-of-life channel · collection and treatment of removed luminaires by an approved eco-organisation, in accordance with articles R543-195 and R543-202 of the French Environment Code.
              • French Lighting Association · we are members, which keeps us in touch with how the standards evolve.

Settings where a standard calculation is not enough

              • Industry, workshops and production lines, including visual inspection stations.
              • Logistics warehouses and great heights, with the access constraints for maintenance.
              • Explosive atmosphere zones, according to the zoning defined and provided by the operator.
              • Offices and commercial environments, screens and visual comfort at workstations.
              • Sports facilities, halls and pitches, with the requirements specific to federations and competition levels.
              • Farm and livestock buildings, wine cellars and winemaking facilities.
              • Outdoor lighting, car parks, roads and surroundings, in compliance with the rules on limiting light pollution.
Harsh environments: extreme temperatures, ATEX, corrosion, high-pressure washing
The environments that an ordinary luminaire cannot withstand.

              Work all over France

Our teams work all over France, with an on-site visit for the survey. Our head office is in Adé (65); our logistics depot is at Node Park Touraine, 90 rue Guglielmo Marconi, 37310 Tauxigny, and it does not receive visitors. This organisation lets us get to sites quickly across most of the country.

              The founders

Jean-Claude Martin, co-founder, electronics engineer, spent part of his career at Motorola in Asia before turning to LED from 2006. He now runs the Rexylum brand and leads the technical selection of the ranges.

Jean-Christophe Oliveri, co-founder, holder of a technical degree in electrical engineering, founder of Infocity and later with NOVADAY, has worked on LED solutions since 2013. He handles first requests and answers you directly on 06 60 70 37 01.

              Frequently asked questions

How long has Luminance Consulting existed?
The company was founded in 2013 and has operated without interruption since. We show this date without rounding it and without adding the earlier careers of its founders. The company's legal information is public: you can check it in the official registers before consulting us, and we encourage you to do so for every firm you put in competition.
Are you a design office or a luminaire supplier?
Both, and in that order. Luminance Consulting is a consultancy in lighting solutions: we audit, we measure, we model in DIALux, we recommend a solution expressed as performance targets, then we supply it and have it installed, by our own team or by the installer of your choice. The design office is an in-house skill, just like the audit, the choice of luminaires and the expertise in difficult industrial environments. That is what allows us to commit to the result measured after installation, and not only to a calculation.
              Why are your studies free?
Because we do not live from engineering but from the solution we supply and have installed. Charging for the study would mean being paid twice for the same work. We prefer to be upfront about it: the study, the site visit and the 3D modelling are free, the report is handed over unconditionally and it is yours. What we owe you in return is a design that does not count one luminaire too many and a check of the levels after installation.
Do you work outside the Centre-Val de Loire region?
Yes. We work all over France, with an on-site visit for the survey, and the visit is part of the free study.

The four objections people do not raise out loud, dealt with here directly.

Describe your site to us, we will come and measure it

A building to renovate, an installation that no longer satisfies its users, compliance to demonstrate, a contractor tender to prepare. Describe the situation in a few lines: an engineer replies within 48 working hours and schedules the visit. The study is free.

              • A direct reply from the person who will handle your file
              • Free audit and photometric study, site visit and 3D simulation included
              • Report handed over with no order required, and it is yours
